Icy, raw, earthy and natural... WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS ALL MEAN OR REEFER TOO!!!! Well it 's a catchy name for opaque and some transparent diamonds that have lots of inclusions. There very pretty and some some gorgeous. It's a matter of taste like everything. I do love them but if you read this blog often enough you know that.

One does tend to see them in more earthy shade like yellow, terracotta and brown. One can find green, blue,white, grey, black and so on. The black and white ones are especially pretty some refer to them as galaxy diamonds. When there cleaner, more transparent the name icy is very fitting.

I was recent emailed by a blog reader to check out Marissa Alperin after a great experience she had. I'm very happy she did.

Marissa's work is bright and fresh as well as clean and modern. She uses a wide range of stones in brilliant stand out colors. Great color combination with tourmalines and sapphires. She has some interesting designs and shapes. Some of the pieces have a very simplified Temple St Clair feeling. Over all I am partial more to her solitaire's and simplifed settings. Her multicolored bands a a bit much for me.

Rony Tennenbaum work is very clean and precise, not something I show very often on this site. I do have a tendency to show more organic and hand form pieces. I'm showing one ring in particular that really caught my attention. His Oxygen ring to me embodies the idea of love between to partners perfectly. The design of this ring is simple but the sentiment behind it is fantastic. One needs the other to be whole.

This ring is made with a half moon cut diamonds. The setting for this is really cool it has the illusion of being suspended.

Rony's main audience is the gay and lesbian market. I have to applaud him for this. I think it's commendable with all the converse right now of equality for all. Everyone has the right to be happy and be married to whom they love.

Hello my blog friends. Here is a special treat dear to me. I recently got legal joined to my man of the last 5 years. To commemorate this event I commissioned a ring by Katrina LaPenne. She created this ring based on a combination of ideas I wanted to have embodied.

It was inspired by 3 pieces from 3 different designers. First Malcolm Betts who's work remind me of King Arther. It so strong, bold and elegant. Second the side pave work of this particular Me & Ro ring. Last the bead set work of this St Kilda eternity band.

I wanted it looked as tho it belonged in the Italian renaissances, the movie Excalibur or on the finger of a middle easten Queen. GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!!

I wanted a ring that's truly one of a kind while following my ideas that a unique ring doesn't have to be expensive. I had it custom made by a wonderful goldsmith and I bought all the stones off ebay. It just took patience and research.

Orit's work was simple and stylish. I was very impressed with the delcate craftmanship. One of the girls with me was in love with a 18k yellow gold many banded wire ring with bezel set diamonds. Champagne diamond

Champagne and Silver Galaxy Diamond. These are just very flawed diamond. I work with this in the piece I make.
I personally find the flaws beautiful and unique perfect is boring.

This is my favor ring of the new collection. A design for a simple prong set.
I wonder how this would look with a pale champagne diamond or a galaxy against the satin finish. I bet it be lovely. When I say Galaxy diamond I mean a very flawed but sparkly diamond.

Earlier this week a viewer comment that I should take a look at Malcom Betts. I'm totally in love with his work now. I'm so glad that he was brought to my attention. According to Malcom Betts site he became "a goldsmith at the age of 16, Malcolm Betts has pursued his craft ever since. Over eight years of study and training, he refined a distinctive style that has run through his professional work to this day."

This might be a fun analogy to some and you can blame the influences of having the movie Excalibur on in the background but, these rings feel very royal medieval to me. I state this as a positive and I think King Aurther would totally wear these. I know I would. They have a very unique style and look and his gem selection is fantastic. He uses old cuts and antique stones, as well as ethically sourced.

All of his work has a slightly hammer look and roughness that adds to the beauty of the pieces. These techniques work in a way that accentuates his beautiful choice in gems. I'm in love with the combined metal bands.

Some of you might wonder what jewelry I wear. No, I'm not married but the 2 bands I wear if I did would be my wedding bands. Both are from agas and tamar. The first we got in Israel. It's pale yellow gold with 6 small diamonds and the second is sliver etched all the way around in Aramaic from there nyc store. The top ring is a very flawed champagne diamond just above .50 carats gypsy set in sliver that I made in jewelry class at SVA. My other hand is a 3I clarity silver diamond set also in silver and a silver band I also made. I just fake being married. My boyfriend jokes that he could never buy me a engagement ring and why should he since I can make one. :)

This ring goes against the principles of this site so I'm breaking my own rules. I'm going to blame the fact I have a co-work that just got engaged with a 1-2 carat asscher cut diamond and platinum setting ring. The Asscher is really nice but the setting is little to conventional for my taste. It dose however look great on her and fits her tastes and thats what matters (مبروك to K & A). The ring shown above however is my style but the price tag is a bit ridiculous. Palladium is the cheapest of all the metals so your paying in theory mostly for the stone. Asscher are not cheap cuts. Here are some asscher cut diamond ring alternatives for those who don't have 15k. I know I don't.
