Icy, Raw, Natural Diamonds

Icy, raw, earthy and natural... WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS ALL MEAN OR REEFER TOO!!!! Well it 's a catchy name for opaque and some transparent diamonds that have lots of inclusions. There very pretty and some some gorgeous. It's a matter of taste like everything. I do love them but if you read this blog often enough you know that.

One does tend to see them in more earthy shade like yellow, terracotta and brown. One can find green, blue,white, grey, black and so on. The black and white ones are especially pretty some refer to them as galaxy diamonds. When there cleaner, more transparent the name icy is very fitting.

I personal recommend in NYC Golconda. Really nice ladies. I love going in there and talking to them. I learn so much everytime and never feel pressured. I go there for rose cut sapphires, and tourmalines. I have my eye on a few diamonds I would love to get but can's afford at the moment.

They have a really beautifully selection of these diamonds.

The first series of rings are by Todd Reed. His work is very raw, masculine, and rugged. He uses raw diamonds, an untraditional material, channel setting them in a number of pieces with a combination of metals. Todd Reed's work feels modern and ancient all at the same time. I particular like ring TRDR506l color and finish with the small diamonds worked in to the side of the band. Ring TRDR125 metals combination and diamond work is really striking.

The next few rings are from Sarah Perlis. Perlis' work is refined with faint textures and far more traditional. Her work is elegant but not too feminine.

The last group comes from Zoe & Doyle. Their work is extremely modern not just in look but also materials and technique. This first group has a variety of inventive material combinations of wood, metal, ebony or carbon fiber. The final group comes from Zoe & Doyle are all Titanium bands, a very popular material for mens' rings. The jeweler is able to play with the color with the metal producing a lot of surprising combinations. I have to say I favor the matte finish combinations.

I don't have examples posted but Tungsten, Platinum and Palladium are also very popular metals for mens' band.
