Icy, Raw, Natural Diamonds

Icy, raw, earthy and natural... WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS ALL MEAN OR REEFER TOO!!!! Well it 's a catchy name for opaque and some transparent diamonds that have lots of inclusions. There very pretty and some some gorgeous. It's a matter of taste like everything. I do love them but if you read this blog often enough you know that.

One does tend to see them in more earthy shade like yellow, terracotta and brown. One can find green, blue,white, grey, black and so on. The black and white ones are especially pretty some refer to them as galaxy diamonds. When there cleaner, more transparent the name icy is very fitting.

I personal recommend in NYC Golconda. Really nice ladies. I love going in there and talking to them. I learn so much everytime and never feel pressured. I go there for rose cut sapphires, and tourmalines. I have my eye on a few diamonds I would love to get but can's afford at the moment.

They have a really beautifully selection of these diamonds.

I Bought My Mom This Ring

A peachy red 5mm rose cut raw diamond is wrapped in 14k yellow gold and then mounted on a thin hammered white gold band

Last year I bought this ring for my mother's birthday. I was a bad child and forgot the date. So, I felt the only way I could make it up to her was to buy her a diamond. She loves this ring and wears it all the time.

I think this would be a cool engagement ring. Its a very delicate ring. I think the band could be a little bit thicker. With the stone so large it tends to twist to the side and I think it would balance the look. It does looks great on my mother who has delicate hands and fingers. The uses of the yellow gold picks up the tones in the stone enhancing the color. Bloom Studio has a few variation of this ring so if you like this but it's not quite right have a look at some of her other options.

Natasha Ring in 18k Oxidized White Gold with a 1.00ct Rosecut Diamond.

New from St. Kilda the Natasha ring. Loving the rose cut center diamond in the oxidized white gold. The effect given from oxidizing not only brings out the white of the diamonds but it also gives the white gold a cool grey shade. However, I do find the main setting is very heavy looking, and the design suffers with the band being so thin. I feel the setting should be a bit more delicate or that the band should be thicker.

Petite Wow & Rose Cut

There’s a growing trend to use conflict free and natural colored diamonds. What’s good is that you know you're not helping fund illegal operations of rebels and or terrorists. Also, using one of these alternative options can bring down the cost of the ring.

I find natural diamonds are just cool alternatives to the tradition white diamond. Chocolate, blue, green or go goth, go black.

A popular cut for these alternative colored stones is one of my personal favorites, the Rose cut.

This ring in particular is modern and clean with a twist. It’s a moderation of the traditional solitaire setting, a white rose cut conflict free diamond with a 14kt Yellow Gold band and 14kt White Gold Bezel around the stone. The light hammered touches on the band adds a human touch, the signature of the artisan. It would have a very different feeling if the band was a perfect cast, cold and impersonal.

It’s a very sincere and sweet ring. I'd recommend the combination of this thin hammered.
