I'm in love with these bands

Platinum and 22ct gold, Antique old cushion cut diamond 2.53 cts

Platinum with round sapphire 3.65 carats and 2 small ascher cut diamonds

22ct gold with rose cut ruby and 2 rose cut diamonds

Earlier this week a viewer comment that I should take a look at Malcom Betts. I'm totally in love with his work now. I'm so glad that he was brought to my attention. According to Malcom Betts site he became "a goldsmith at the age of 16, Malcolm Betts has pursued his craft ever since. Over eight years of study and training, he refined a distinctive style that has run through his professional work to this day."

This might be a fun analogy to some and you can blame the influences of having the movie Excalibur on in the background but, these rings feel very royal medieval to me. I state this as a positive and I think King Aurther would totally wear these. I know I would. They have a very unique style and look and his gem selection is fantastic. He uses old cuts and antique stones, as well as ethically sourced.

All of his work has a slightly hammer look and roughness that adds to the beauty of the pieces. These techniques work in a way that accentuates his beautiful choice in gems. I'm in love with the combined metal bands.

Custom Ring From Kay Who Knew

Custom designed platinum ring with side trillion cut diamonds and a lab created princess cut blue sapphire.

Recently, I was in the DC, North Virginia area for the holidays and I saw two very nice custom rings. The first ring that I'm showing I was surprised to find came from Kay Jeweler's. I figured that Kay only did custom rings in terms of using pre-made settings and adding stones. However, the Kay Jeweler's this couple went to happened to work with local jewelers in the area, and this couple was able to get a completely original custom design with a Celtic influence. The Bride had to have the ring in platinum due to her job in Chemistry. If it was in white gold the rhodium coating would come off from the chemicals she works with.

Let The Truth Be Known

OK readers, truth time. I have to admit I used to want an engagement ring that was very conventional. Many years ago, yes I was engaged but never married. At the time I was only aware of the conventional traditions, really expensive obscure companies and brand name stores. I'm not very proud of myself looking back on what I believed was important at the time. The ideas are counter to what I show on this site in style, budget and pure intentions. Something that there is truly no cost associated with. A 10 dollars silver ring can mean as much as a 100k ring covered in diamonds.

Tiffianys
Ring .5 carat platinum priced from $3,000
Band brilliant diamonds in platinum. 3mm wide.$8,700

I had wanted a traditional solitaire prong set ring with a white diamond with a eternity wedding band; very typical and often overpriced depending on where you shop. I had also loved Nessing, whom my older brother had taught me about. He'd been a jewelry student at Savannah College of Art and Design. Nessing at the time was cost wise was out of the question, although Nessing's rings are technically amazing rings.

Tension Ring Price range 2700 and up.. They make a version of this ring for 18k

I still love the combination of simple engagement rings and eternity bands. But, I have since learned of more variations and options of how this is accomplished. Options that can be more unique, special and affordable. So, I started this site to hopefully help others and share the things I find.

Art Deco Style 18k white gold diamond emerald ring. Emerald cut diamond that weighs approximately 0.45 carats F color and clarity is VVS. T 14 small diamonds and 4 emeralds around it. Emerald side stones $2,000.00 Ruby sidestones: $2,400.00

I'd like to point out that I really love these two rings. The emeralds and rubys are so bright and striking against the white gold. They really bring out the emerald cut diamond in the center.

Israel Rose carries a really wide range of estate jewelry. Above I presented a few ring from there lower price range. As one can see you can get something really stellar for a reasonable price.

Rings Fit For A Fairy Tale Princess

What kind of ring would one give a fairy tale princess from Brother's Grim tales - an Elegant beauty set against dark forces in mysterious tales? A ring from Cathy Waterman.

Wheat Band with Princess Cut Diamond Platinum / Diamond Wheat Band with Princess Cut Center Stone $4,920.00

Jeweler Cathy Waterman's work is whimsical with little bit of gothic fairy tale. Waterman's work could easily adorn Snow White or Cinderella. Her "Love of my life" series is truly worthy of a princess. These pieces are more refined then some of her other work with fine milgrain and lots of small fine diamonds set throughout a single band or helping accent the large stones.

For the traditionalist, her simple diamond and platinum solitaire settings are elegant and lovely and can work with any number of bands that she produces. For the non-traditionalist she also works with a wide range of other gem stones; turquoise, aquamarine and sapphire to name a few. With her work its possible to mix and match bands and rings very nicely, so one could easily sandwich a engagement ring between to band nicely.
